Good Things Come to Those Who Wait

Wedding Portrait in TulsaThe wedding photography class I had been teaching at Tulsa Tech was wrapping up. We were holding a live shoot at a nearby church. Of course, having a couple to photograph was absolutely crucial. So Luis and Isis were so kind to come and help us out. Isis had had her hair done beautifully. Her gown was pressed and ready. Luis had a sharply tailored dark suit. And, as the sun was setting and the light was waning, I took them outside to a grove of Oklahoma redbuds at their peak of bloom. The moment was magic and the portrait turned out beautifully. Of course I promised Luis and Isis that I would look forward to getting them a complimentary portrait as a way of thanking them for all of their trouble in helping us out. But then April rolled into May, and then June, and yours truly let a busy Spring shooting schedule get in the way of his promise. So Luis gave me a little nudge with a gentle phone call. What an impressive human being. And, at long last, I sprung into action. Now, the portrait is ready, and I’m thrilled to deliver it to them. As the saying goes, good things come to those who wait. Although Luis and Isis had to wait a while, they are going to have a wall portrait to display in their home for a lifetime. And that makes the wait worthwhile.
